| Great Britain's
Greatest Shame
After weeks of torrid
revelations regarding expenses claimed by our
Members of Parliament Britain is still railing
from the shock of what went on, and why those
charged with policing the system did nothing. In
fact if it was not for a Freedom of Information
Request and the House of Commons being legally
compelled to disclose their expenses, we would
have never know. As such this site pays tribute to
the 'whistleblower' who leaked the unedited
expenses to the Daily Telegraph and to the Daily
Telegraph for it full reporting of them.
Now that the House of
Commons has published the expenses under the FOI
the country stands angered at the wide scale
editing of them and is now aware that if the Daily
Telegraph had not covered the story in full before
hand, that the public might never have known of
the 'lucrative', 'elicit' and even 'fraudulent'
claims being made by our MP's.
Did the House of Commons
fail to police the rules, should the rules
themselves have been written by the House, did
they attempt to hide the truth from the public or
was it worse did they attempt to hide acts of
criminality and as such attempt to pervert the
course of justice.
With politicians, one after
another claiming 'they were only following orders'
a defence not accepted in this country before, few
have had the decency to fall on their swords.
Rather it has been for the public to oust them.
Below are some of the politicians who expenses
have been called into question in recent days.
